Rockefeller Center
By now we've seen a lot of the sights here in NYC. We're fast approaching the flight home to France. So.. I thought we might go and take a skate around Rockefeller Center. Corbin and I packed up the kids and I got out the stroller for Ivy. The others were staying home for the afternoon. Some R and R while Corbin and I take the kids out.
On our way we spotted a street vendor. It appeared he was selling shirts out of the back of his car. This has to be something we do .. buy something from a street vendor.. right? Isn't that a thing? Well, either way..we checked it out. There was a NYPD officer floating about if there was any trouble.
As we were all deciding which top we wanted we heard the jingle of an ice cream truck! What luck! Of course, the girls were jumping up and down and asking for ice cream. My brother was sweet enough to foot the bill for all of us, even the shirts! What a good brother he is.(I knew he had it in him!)
It was time to settle up with the man selling the shirts. I picked out a hoodie, Corbin got a t-shirt and the girls all got little sweatshirts. I put mine right on. It was still a little breezy in the city and I figured with some skating it'd be a good idea. Once I slipped mine on, everyone put on theirs too! Now we really looked like tourists. Uh oh..
After walking about 20 minutes we were close to Rockefeller Center! I could see it in the distance.
When we were almost there my sister, Kara showed up! She had sent me a text earlier in the morning and said that she'd like to come out with us. So she hailed a cab and was dropped off just before we reached in the rink. It was wonderful for her to enjoy this with us!
We all rented some skates, laced up and hit the ice! Ivy learned a bit about skating this past winter. Hopefully she remembers some of it!
She took one small little fall and we had to pause for some snuggles.
We got all three girls to get together for a pose on the rink!
After about an hour or so of skating we decided to head back and hopefully run into the man that sold us those shirts. We wanted Kara to have one too!
Luckily, he was still there!
She grabbed the hoodie and we headed back home.
I sure am going to miss this city when we have to leave...
