Spring has sprung at Silent Reverie! Our hens have been laying quite a few eggs lately. Ivy and I had been out by the coop one morning collecting some eggs and we thought we should check on some to see if we had any babies yet. We found a few that were nearly ready for hatching. So, we took a seat in the coop with 'the girls' and waited on the babies. Giselle, Kara and Maelie joined in the waiting game. We were hoping for at least 4 babies. I sure hope that we get some!

After about 45 minutes of hanging about.. we had our first baby! He had little black fluffy down and ran about the coop chirping. IT may have been one of the sweetest things I've seen in a long time.
Soon after we had two more babies! These had soft yellow downy feathers. Ivy was giggling the whole time. What a special thing for her to see. The blessing of life. Nothing compares. It never gets old to see the cycle of life. I am so happy that I was able to explain everything for her and that she may grow to appreciate animals the way that I do.
As you can see Ivy fell in love with these little babies. I had called Kara, Giselle, Corbin and Maelie to come over to the house and witness the newest members of the Hadlee clan!
I have fallen in love with these sweet babies. It will be a joy to watch them grow.. perhaps we'll have other animals move onto the farm as we finally settle in here.
