New York City - a place that Ivy holds very close to her heart in RL. So, when I was thinking this year what I would do for her RL and subsequently her SL birthday .. what came to mind? A vacation to NYC! She's been dying to get back to her 'home' the home in her heart. I knew I had to to do this for her. We are also celebrating our official one year as Mother and daughter in SL. She was 'born' to me in SL on April 15th, 2012(her RL birthday!) So, this trip is special for two reasons. She has been a very important part of my life for 2 years now. So.. enough moosh.. here. we. go.
The Hadlee's & Adored's are taking on NYC!
We had our bags packed, passports ready (remember, we moved to France! I'll post our move and new home soon!). We couldn't be more excited to celebrate my little Princess's birthday and get back to the States for a visit! We packed up the car at my house and headed towards the airport ...goodbye France and hello New York! We made it to the airport, checked bags, and just waited for our plane to show up. Kara forgot her dramamine, the girls were nervous.. and I always get a bit nervous when we fly over the ocean. However, it's worth it. My parents and siblings are going to pick us up at the airport and give us the grand tour of the city! I rented us an apartment in the city that I think is just perfect for us! Goodbye, France! Hello, New York! The Hadlee's & Adored's are here! I hope you're ready for us! The flight was long and we hit a bit of turbulence on the way over but we all made it in once piece! My parents were at the airport waiting for us and what a welcome we had! We went to baggage claim and had to wait a while for our bags to come in. Once we had our bags packed we hailed a cab and headed into the city. It was pouring and there was a terrible thunderstorm going on as well. (Good thing Ivy LOVES them!) We weren't able to see very much due to the amount of rain. The city was still busy though, all of the sounds.. it was incredible. The cab dropped us off right outside of the subway and we ran across the street and into the subway. The rain was really coming down. It was too bad because we really wanted to get a look of the city around us! Maybe tomorrow.. We all bought metro passes and headed down to wait for the subway to take us to our apartment. The subway was... interesting and quite.. filthy. After about 15 minutes our train came! We were all exhausted from the flight.. it was time to get to our temporary home and settle in. We finally made it to the apartment building and took the elevator up. I couldn't wait for Ivy to see where she would be spending her birthday! We all ran in and explored the apartment. It was huge. The rain looked so beautiful outside of the tall windows.. it really was a sight I wish I could keep forever. After a while of just settling in, unpacking and unwinding the rain stopped! We thought we might go up on the roof and check out the view we had. There was a small grill up there - I appointed Corbin to grill us some dinner. After dinner and the sun had set we were all just looking out at the city and admiring it's beauty, when we were surprised with some fireworks! What a day this really has been... The fireworks show was incredible and lasted for over an hour! During the show a few of us decided we might try out the hot-tub on the roof and watch from there! Everyone went to bed fairly early that night .. excepty Ivy, Giselle and I were all awake - maybe it was the time change for us.. I don't know. However.. we crept downstairs and played with the luggage cart.. sshh.. don't tell. Even Mommy's need to have some silly time too! We tired ourselves out and finally hit the hay .. it's been a long, long day. I tucked Ivy in and gave her a kiss on the forehead... tomorrow will be her birthday! There's so much to see and do in this city and to think.. this is only the beginning..
