(This song I have attached here as very special RL meaning to me. It's a song my Husband and I used to listen to when we were falling in love. It only seems a fitting song for where we are on our little vacation.)
Paris Vacation ~ Day 3 and New Years Eve
Today was the big day. The day we went to see the Eiffel tower!
We also needed to pick up some post cards and some gifts for the girls to take home. We started off fairly early in the morning. Double and even triple checking that we all had our camera's, money and that I had my cell phone. Posing for a quick picture on the way out the door and we were off to take on the city!
The city was fairly busy that morning and there was no roadside parking. I had to find a small lot nearby to park the car in before we went out for a walk in search of a small gift shop.
After discussing about staying close and no running off, and to be sure we all held hands - we were off in search of presents!
We found a quaint little boutique and went inside. I was hoping that they would all be able to take a small gift home. When we entered it smelled of roses and there was a kind young woman behind the counter.
The girls instantly started to look around.
They all spotted them, tiny delicate little Eiffel tower earrings. "Please, please, please?!" They all asked. How could I say no? I set 3 pair down on the counter top for the woman to keep an eye on while we continued to shop.
In the second small room of the store there was a large bookshelf with some literature and some beautiful canvas's lined up. Some local artists had done a beautiful job at painting the Eiffel tower or some other various French prints.
They each picked out a canvas and it was time to check out. The woman kindly bagged up all of our goodies and we headed back to the car to put them in trunk. It was time to go further into the city to see the tower. We'd been shopping so long that the sun had started to set. I hope that we would still be able to see the tower.
As we came to a stop light.. I could see an incredible sight before me, it was beautiful. I rolled down my window a bit to let a bit of breeze in and made sure the girls could see everything. "Wooooaah" is all I hard from the back seat.
A magnificent bridge was ahead of us it was covered in beautiful lights. What a sight at night!
We went through another tunnel and came to a small parking area where we left the car and went for a walk through the city - headed right for the tower!
We finally approached the tower.. wow. It was magnificent! Just as I had hoped! Wow.
As we walked closer we saw that we were able to take a ride to the top of the tower. Ivy was a little nervous.. but tried it anyway.
We were able to see so much from the top! I looked through one of the telescopes at the entire city.
When we all came down Ivy spotted a carousel and asked if she could go for a ride. These were her favorite things..and for being so brave and going to the top.. I couldn't deny her that!
We also spotted a horse and buggy. Hopefully when we go back we'll be able to have a ride!
We were all tired and began to head back to the car and make the drive back to our apartment. After singing a few car songs the girls fell asleep in the back seat.
After getting home .. we all changed and got ready for a small party in the plaza. It was New Years Eve!
Once we were all dressed in our best we headed to the plaza for food, drinks, fireworks and dancing! They even had a small ball to drop. It was a wonderful time!
Happy New Year!
We were all pretty tired by now so we sat down to munch on some of the food. That's when Ivy pushed a small box across the table to me.
I was surprised and opened the box.. and found inside was a 160 page book of memories. You see, in SL I asked Ivy to go on trial with me one year ago that day. She compiled a scrapbook of all of the things we'd ever done together and put it in a book. I was crying real life tears as I looked through it. I am a very blessed Mother and I couldn't imagine asking for a better child than my little Ivy. I love her very dearly.
It was late and time for bed.. we all headed up and put on jammies and slept in the big bed. I went to sleep that night with a very full and happy heart.
